GENERAL THEORY OF TIME
IN ATTEMPT TO ADVANCE KNOWLEDGE
The proposed time theory that is applied mainly to physics, concerns both mathematical and biological sciences.It defines time for the first time and brings out the distinction between conscious time and para-time. Conscious time is the time of observation; and its use is in day-to-day life. Para-time is the common name given to time-forms like memory-time, dream-time, imagination-time, and so on, which are not conscious time. (The term "para-time" had been used, for the first time, in the book "Time" that was published in 1999. Please select "About the Author" in the menu and click on "References" from the pull down menu.) Nothing much is known about para-time. Nonetheless, "Memory" has been studied well in the disciplines of medicine and education, and "dream" in medicine. The Buddhist philosophy, especially the Tibetan Mohayano sect, deliberates well on "dream". Memory-time and dreamtime may be understood better than other forms of para-time.
The common argument of conscious time and para-time is meta-time, short for meta-concept of time.(Please select "Basics of the Theory" from the menu and then "The Abstraction of Meta-time" from the pull down menu to see some more about meta-time.)
The parts of conscious time are durations.This stands sharply against the common belief in science and philosophy that the parts of time, the parts of the time of every day use, are infinitely divisible and can be related to the points on a line. This is not what it is. Conscious time is composed of "instants" that arrange themselves one after another, without any gap in between. This is a new ground to understand, and it eventually helps to define conscious time, and also meta-time - meta-time as the limiting form of conscious time. Of course, meta-time is the limiting form also of para-time.
General theory of time is new and it is based on two new theories: "Finite Foundation for Mathematics of Change" and "Principle of Oneness and Operator of Oneness".(Please select these heads from the menu.) These are new theories and they have the potentials to cover a wide span in science and philosophy.
General theory of time supports quantum theory; however, it grants relativity relevance only for future.This evolves from various understandings, including that space is physicality and time concept - time is the first amongst all concepts.(Please select "Basics of the Theory" and from its pull down menu "Understanding Space" and "Geometry of space-time". Again select "A few results" from the menu and then "Concept of space-time continuum" and "Concept of Relativity" from the pull down menu.)
Some of the older thoughts that are required to accept the theory are supplied under "Basics of the Theory". A few results concerning black hole, big bang, a theory of low temperature, freeze decay, theory of rhythm etc may be seen for short review under "A few results".
Several disciplines, particularly physics, are affected by the general theory of time. The discussions on these are provided in short essays. (Please see the blue box on the top right.). The first three essays are (1) Motion, Position and Observation, (2) Limit of Low Temperature and Freeze Decay and (3) Gravitation and Universal Rhythm. They are written in simple non-mathematical language for easy reading.
Every part of this web site can be accessed freely. The intention is to stimulate exchange of ideas and information, collect comments and invite scholarly review of the theories.
